India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, has been grinning from ear to ear since taking his team through to the T20 World Cup in the West Indies in 2024. Taking a photo with a special fan at the airport, the Indian captain repeated what had been done the day before for the fan.
In the frequently watched video of the airport’s policeman, initially, when the man extends his hand to shake Rohit’s, the policeman looks a bit uncomfortable. The Indian skipper obliged him and extended his right hand for a handshake and before the Indian could know it, the smile on the face of the stranger shot him into delight.
Towards the end of the video, the person requests to be photographed with the Indian captain; to which the captain accepts and takes a picture with the man next to the camera.
Since the return of the Indian team from the West Indies, Rohit has received congratulations from people throughout the nation. The entire Indian squad was invited to a special breakfast meeting at the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Since guiding the Men in Blue to their first ICC title in thirteen years—a victory over South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final—Rohit Sharma‘s reputation has grown considerably, both as a player and as captain.
Long-term supporters of Rohit include retiring India coach Rahul Dravid, who expressed his enjoyment of working with the hitman and watching him develop from a young child to a leader.
In a video posted on BCCI on X (formerly Twitter), Dravid said, “I have enjoyed working with Rohit. He is someone I knew as a young boy. Just to see him grow as a person, grow as a leader in Indian cricket.”
“He is someone who has contributed to the team in the last 10–12 years, both as a player and now as a leader. It has been a real tribute to him and the effort he has put in and the time he has put in. I enjoy getting to know him as a person as well,” Rahul Dravid added.
Thanks to a strong team effort, the Men in Blue prevailed in the hotly contested T20 World Cup final earlier this month. Captain Rohit Sharma made a point of telling everyone in the lead-up to the competition that winning the World Cup title and not individual records mattered.
However, Rohi, Virat, and Ravindra Jadeja decided to stop playing the game’s longer format after the competition. Rohit did declare that he would play T20 cricket in the IPL going forward.
