[WATCH]- Prithvi Shaw Plays Cricket At Home After Vijay Hazare Snub

Indian opener Prithvi Shaw was recently spotted playing cricket with a kid at his Mumbai home. The talented batter made headlines after being excluded from Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 squad for the first three rounds.

Amid this challenging phase, Shaw found solace by spending playful moments with a kid. Sharing the video, the 25-year-old highlighted that those who support you during tough times are true family. The former Delhi Capitals (DC) batter wrote:

“When everything feels difficult, the people who stand by you without flinching, they are your family.”

In another Instagram story, Shaw emphasized his father’s support during this challenging phase of his career.

Notably, this is the second time Prithvi Shaw has been dropped from Mumbai’s domestic team. Earlier, he was excluded from the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 squad after the first two matches due to fitness concerns.

Adding to his struggles, Shaw underperformed in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT 2024). Despite Mumbai winning the title, he managed only 197 runs in nine matches, averaging a modest 21.88.

“He is his own enemy”- MCA official views on Prithvi Shaw

A Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official recently addressed Prithvi Shaw’s omission from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad, citing significant room for improvement in his fielding, which was below par during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Speaking anonymously to PTI, the official emphasized the need for Shaw to work on his fitness and attitude. He commented:

“In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, we were playing with 10 fielders as we were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw. The ball would pass near him and he would barely be able to get to it.”

“Even while batting, we could see he was troubled reaching to the ball. His fitness, discipline and attitude are poor and it is pretty simple, there cannot be different rules for different players. Even the seniors in the team have started complaining about his attitude now.”

After being excluded from Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy squad for the first three matches, Shaw shared an Instagram story highlighting his impressive List A record. However, an MCA official stated that such social media posts would not aid Shaw’s case, remarking:

“You would be wrong to think such posts on social media would have any impact on the Mumbai selectors and the MCA. I’ll tell you one thing. No one is Shaw’s enemy. He is his own enemy.”
