Gujarat cricketer Ravi Bishnoi pulled off a stunning running catch to dismiss Karnataka’s Manish Pandey during their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 clash on Thursday, December 5, at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
The breakthrough came on the final ball of the fifth over of Karnataka’s innings. Axar Patel bowled a full delivery outside the off-stump, which Manish attempted to drive. Bishnoi, charging in from the long-off boundary, completed a remarkable catch to send him back.
Manish scored 30 runs off 17 balls, hitting five fours and a six. His dismissal left Karnataka at 54/1 after five overs. You can watch the video here:

Chasing a challenging target of 252, Karnataka’s openers, Manish Pandey (30) and skipper Mayank Agarwal (45), built a solid 54-run partnership. Krishnan Shrijith added 26 runs, while Smaran Ravichandran delivered an explosive innings of 49 off 21 balls, smashing one four and six sixes.
Despite these efforts, Karnataka’s batting faltered as they collapsed from 132/3 to 162/6. The team was eventually bowled out for 203 in 19.1 overs, falling 48 runs short. Ravi Bishnoi shone with the ball for Gujarat, taking three wickets, while Axar Patel and Arzan Nagwaswalla chipped in with two wickets each.

Karnataka won the toss and opted to bowl first. Gujarat’s innings got off to a blazing start with Urvil Patel smashing 33 off just 14 balls, including two fours and four sixes. This was followed by a pivotal 106-run stand off 60 balls for the second wicket between Aarya Desai and Abhishek Desai.
Aarya impressed with a powerful 73 off 40 balls, hitting five fours and four sixes, while Abhishek added a steady 47 off 32 balls. Later, Hemang Patel accelerated the innings with a quick 30 off 12 balls, and captain Axar Patel delivered a sensational unbeaten knock of 56 off 20 balls, featuring two fours and six sixes.
Gujarat concluded their innings at 251/5 in 20 overs, marking their highest-ever total in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history.
