[WATCH]- Ravichandran Ashwin Reacts To His CSK Homecoming After A Heated Bidding War

Ravichandran Ashwin was deeply moved by the determination shown by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as they secured his return for ₹9.75 crore after a fierce bidding war involving three franchises.

CSK faced stiff competition from Rajasthan Royals and other teams to bring Ashwin back. They initiated the bid at his base price of ₹2 crore, with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) joining in and making four bids before bowing out at ₹3.40 crore.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) entered next but exited after two bids, giving way to Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan fiercely contested, starting at ₹4.60 crore and matching CSK’s offers until the final winning bid of ₹9.75 crore.

In a video shared by CSK on social media, Ashwin expressed his excitement about reuniting with his first IPL team, playing under Ruturaj Gaikwad’s captaincy, and teaming up again with MS Dhoni.

Ashwin Praises CSK

“They say life comes full circle. From 2008 to 2015, I wore the yellow jersey and represented CSK, a team to which I owe so much,” Ashwin shared.

“CSK has played a crucial role in shaping my international career. A decade after my last stint in 2015, being picked again feels indescribable. The most nostalgic part is how CSK fought for me, just like in the 2011 auction.”

“It’s been a journey down memory lane for me and a truly special feeling. Over the last 10 years, I’ve seen a lot about ‘Anbuden’ fans on social media. When I played for Rajasthan, it felt bittersweet competing against CSK fans—they wouldn’t cheer whether I was bowling or batting.”
