In the ongoing IPL 2024 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, CSK’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja injected a dose of humour into the atmosphere with a delightful stunt. Following a stellar batting performance by CSK, Jadeja, stationed near the boundary ropes, seized the moment to entertain the crowd.
He playfully manipulated the camera, pulling faces that ranged from amusing to spooky, eliciting laughter from the spectators. This impromptu act quickly became a viral sensation on the internet, spreading smiles far beyond the stadium. On the field, Jadeja demonstrated his worth not only with antics but also with the bat. Coming in at No.4 after CSK lost early wickets, he played a crucial role in stabilizing the innings alongside skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Jadeja’s innings of 16 runs off 19 balls, inclusive of two boundaries, contributed significantly to a partnership of 52 runs between him and Gaikwad. Their collaboration helped CSK recover from a precarious position, crossing the 100-run mark.

Following Jadeja’s departure, Gaikwad took charge and showcased his batting prowess, ultimately reaching an unbeaten 108 runs off just 60 balls. His explosive innings, characterized by a strike rate of 180, comprised 12 boundaries and 3 sixes. Alongside Gaikwad, Shivam Dube’s contribution of 66 runs further bolstered CSK’s total, culminating in a formidable score of 210 runs.
Reflecting on his performance, Dube attributed his success to the encouragement of the home crowd, which spurred him to push the boundaries with the bat. He shared insights into his partnership with Gaikwad, emphasizing their proactive approach to taking on the bowlers.
Optimistic about CSK’s chances, Dube expressed confidence in their bowling unit and believed that their batting effort had secured a winning total, possibly even surpassing the opponents by 10-15 runs. This collective determination and strategic mindset underscore CSK’s quest for victory in the tournament.
Dube said: “Especially the support from the crowd is amazing. We love to play in Chennai. All grounds are like home grounds but this is what pushes me a little more. Rutu needed 1 over to recover after playing for a long time so I decided to take the bowler on. We have scored a lot of runs, we are 10-15 runs above par. We definitely need to bowl well but we have got 10 runs more. Enjoyed a lot when Rutu bats, his class is on a different level.”
