Sunrisers Hyderabad spinner Shreyas Gopal had the last laugh in the battle against Rishabh Pant during the Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match at the Brabourne Stadium in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. The spinner dismissed Rishabh for 26 runs.
Rishabh Pant came out to bat after the fall of Mitchell Marsh’s wicket. He started off his innings slowly, scoring just four runs off the first eleven deliveries. However, in the ninth over, the wicket-keeper batter decided to shift gears. He took on the Shreyas Gopal, who is making his debut for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in this game.
Pant slammed the spinner for three consecutive sixes in the over. He picked the wrong ‘un to dispatch it for the first six of the over. The second six came, as Pant came down the pitch to smash the ball over the bowler’s head. The third was a lofted drive over long-off for a maximum. The three sixes were followed by a boundary behind the point region.
However, Shreyas Gopal settled the scores, by dismissing the left-hander on the next delivery of the over. Pant tried to hit a wide-full toss hard, but instead, the ball took the inside edge of the bat and bounced onto the off-stump. The Delhi Capitals skipper had to go back for 26 runs off sixteen deliveries. Shreyas Gopal picked his first wicket of the match and the season.
