For the first time since recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident in December 2022, Rishabh Pant is making his comeback to red-ball cricket. However, he could not score enough runs with just seven off 10 balls.
The southpaw will look forward to bouncing back during India’s second inning as they prepare for an exciting season of Test cricket scheduled for later this year, which includes nine out of 10 Tests in an already packed calendar.
Rishabh Pant is likely to return and be selected into the Indian squad ahead of two-match Test series against Bangladesh starting on September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai.
“Gauti bhai is more aggressive, focused solely on winning” –Rishabh Pant is excited to team up with Gautam Gambhir this Test season
Rishabh Pant is enthusiastic about collaborating with India head coach Gautam Gambhir in the upcoming Test season. He recently shared with Jio Cinema (via The Times of India):
“Rahul bhai was very balanced as a person and a coach, which has its pros and cons. It depends on individuals whether to focus on the positives or negatives. Gauti bhai is more aggressive, focused solely on winning. But it’s crucial to find the right balance and improve.”
“Asian teams like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka excel in familiar conditions. As the Indian team, we focus on maintaining our standards and playing with the same intensity, regardless of the opposition,” he added.
The recent collaboration of Rishabh Pant with Gambhir occurred during the Indian tour of Sri Lanka. The 26-year-old will be enthusiastic about regaining form in a format he has previously taken over entirely.
In 33 tests, aged 26, he has scored 2271 runs including five hundred and eleven fifties. His contribution would be fundamental to India’s victory at the Network Gavaskar Trophy scheduled for later this year in Australia.
