Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 29 runs in the 39th match of the ongoing IPL 2022 season. This win has put Rajasthan Royals on top of the points table. Riyan Parag was awarded the player of the match for his brilliant batting effort of 56* runs and four catches.

After being invited to bat first, the Royals could manage to score only 144 runs with the help of a brilliant knock of 56* runs in 31 balls from Riyan Parag. Rajasthan Royals’ top order failed in this match. Wanindu Hasaranga and Josh Hazlewood were top bowlers for RCB.

In reply, Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis opened the innings for RCB. Virat once again failed to create his impact with the bat. He was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna on a mistimed pull shot which took the lower edge of the bat and went into the hands of Riyan Parag.

Parag took an amazing catch to send back Virat Kohli. The youngster from Assam celebrated this wicket in style. He shook a leg to celebrate Virat’s wicket. Riyan also moved his neck in a jiz-jaz manner with a cheeky smile on his face to express his happiness.

Every Great Player goes through this tough phase: Faf Du Plessis on Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has been in a horrible form in IPL 2022. He has managed to score only 127 runs in 9 innings in the 15th edition of the cash-rich league so far. He is very low on confidence due to back to back ducks. Former RCB captain looked shaky in his stay of 10 balls today. However, RCB captain Faf du Plessis continued to back the talismanic run-scorer to get back in form.

“Great players go through these things. Great players go through phases like this. We wanted him to get in straightaway so that he doesn’t sit on the sidelines and think about the game. He is a great player and we still back him to turn it around and hopefully it’s around the corner. It’s a game of confidence,” said Faf at the end of the match.
