[WATCH]- Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli Shares A Hug After A Tough Loss In The Second Test Against New Zealand

India‘s captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli were spotted embracing after the hosts’ surprising Test series against New Zealand. A video of this touching moment surfaced on social media on Saturday, October 26.

Both players have faced criticism for their underwhelming batting performances in the two Tests. Rohit’s scores were 2, 52, 0, and 8, while Kohli’s were 0, 70, 1, and 17. Their struggles have significantly contributed to India’s first home series loss to New Zealand.

The series loss marked India’s first defeat at home since 2012 against England and the first time they have lost consecutive Tests since then.

“All our batters must develop their strategies and have confidence in those strategies”- Rohit Sharma

Although Team India’s batting unit struggled as a whole, the 37-year-old downplayed the necessity for deep introspection. He emphasized the importance of each batter creating their own plans for improvement. He stated during the press conference, as reported by ESPN Cricinfo:

“We have won 18 series [in a row] in India, which means we’ve done a lot of things well. We’ve batted well in the first innings; we’ve batted well in the second innings. Perhaps we haven’t batted as well in this series as we should have, but these things happen.”

“I don’t want to do too much of a post-mortem, but we can look into how we can approach these situations differently. All our batters will need to work out their plans and trust those plans, [like] ‘This is my plan and it will work’. It’s a different thing if it doesn’t work, but you need to trust it.”

The third and final Test against New Zealand will start on November 1 in Mumbai.
