Rohit Sharma has got his side Mumbai Indians off to a blistering start against Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The defending champions have taken an early grip in the match which is a replica of the IPL 2020 final. Incidentally, Mumbai enjoy a great record against Delhi and will hope to keep up the good numbers.
Asked to bat first, Rohit Sharma played some extraordinary shots despite losing Quinton de Kock early in the innings. Suryakumar Yadav joined Rohit in the middle and as usual, was in his flow. However, it was the right-handed batter Rohit that attracted the eyeballs. He went all guns blazing against the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Amit Mishra, and Ravichandran Ashwin. His knock of 44 runs was filled with three fours and three towering sixes.
Rohit Sharma hits an outrageous six
However, it was the one-hand six off Ashwin that stole the show. Rohit Sharma moved leg-side even before the ball was delivered. He slightly shuffled back again and Ashwin bowled one right in the slot. Rohit beautifully lofts it inside-out over extra cover. He knew that was a six as soon as he made contact despite one hand coming off the bat.

Meanwhile, after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal where he holed out to the long-off fielder, it was all downhill for Mumbai Indians. They lost wickets in a cluster to reel 84 for six in 11.5 overs. Veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra was the star of the show picking three wickets including all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard.
With Ishan Kishan and Jayant Yadav, who is playing his first game of IPL 2021 at the crease, the defending champions will only hope Kishan to bat till the end and guide them to a challenging total for their bowlers to bowl.
