India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, celebrated the team’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 uniquely on Saturday. In the Barbados final against South Africa, Rohit’s team secured a tight win to snap an 11-year wait for an ICC championship. Amid the Indian team’s tearful celebration, Rohit decided to seal the occasion by eating some sand from the field where he won his first ICC championship as captain.

Rohit Sharma was seen removing sand from the Barbados pitch, where South Africa and India had played the championship, in a video released by the Indian Cricket Board. And with that, the hitman put the sand in his mouth.

The video captures the unadulterated feelings of a cricket player who has dedicated years of struggle to earn the exclusive blue jersey and signify India’s historic victory.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma, 31, has retired from Twenty20 international cricket, following in the footsteps of teammate Virat Kohli.

“This was my last [T20I] game as well. No better time to say goodbye to this format. I’ve loved every moment of this. I started my India career playing this format. This is what I wanted, I wanted to win the cup. I wanted this badly” Rohit Sharma said.

“Very hard to put in words. It was a very emotional moment for me. I was very desperate for this title in my life. Happy that we eventually crossed the line.” World Cup-winning captain Conculed.

The 37-year-old went out for nine off five balls in the Bridgetown final, unable to sustain his form. This time, though, Virat Kohli took charge and amassed 76 runs off of 59 balls to aid India in scoring 176/7 in 20 overs. The Proteas were chasing 177 and had failed to get 169/8 in 20 overs, falling seven runs behind.
