Watch – Rohit Sharma Kicks The Ball In Frustration After Bhuvneshwar Kumar Drops A Dolly

Team India’s white-ball captain Rohit Sharma was spotted losing his calm a couple of times during the thrilling 2nd T20I against West Indies in Kolkata on Friday. The hosts, however, prevailed to wrap up the series, winning the match by eight runs.

Meanwhile, it was a sloppy effort by the Indian fielders during the penultimate game. Youngster Ravi Bishnoi dropped Nicholas Pooran on 21 off Yuzvendra Chahal and a mix-up between Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rishabh Pant led to Rovman Powell getting a reprieve on 39.

The hard-hitting Powell intended to pull a short delivery but a big top-edge resulted in the ball flying straight in the air. Bhuvneshwar went for the catch but it popped out of his hands. Rohit Sharma was seen livid with the dropped chance and kicked the ball away only to gift the opposition an extra run.

The Indian skipper was also miffed with Pant for not making an effort to pouch the catch of a dangerous-looking Powell. The clip of Rohit frustrated with the fielding effort started doing rounds on the internet in no time.

However, an experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar came back superbly in the 19th over, giving away only four runs and picking up the crucial wicket of Nicholas Pooran to hand India a crucial win.

It was the turning point of the match as it ended the 100-run stand for the third wicket that almost took West Indies home. With 25 runs needed off the last over, Harshal Patel maintained his calm and composure to win the match by eight runs.

We were a bit sloppy on the field – Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma was unhappy with the dropped chances and feels had they taken those catches, the game would have finished a lot early. Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, the 34-year-old cricketer said:

“We were a bit sloppy on the field. A little disappointed with that. The game would have been different had we taken those catches.”

With 2-0 up, India will hope to continue their winning run on Sunday. They will look to inflict a whitewash when they play the final match of this West Indies tour of India.
