An emotional video circulating on social media has highlighted the deep respect Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma holds for his roots. The footage captures the moment Rohit noticed his childhood coach, Dinesh Lad, alongside his wife, and immediately walked over to greet them with genuine warmth and respect.

The reunion highlights the humble beginnings of the Indian batsman. During the early days of Rohit’s training, when he faced significant financial difficulties, Dinesh Lad’s wife supported him like a mother. She routinely prepared and fed him numerous omelets after his exhausting practice sessions to ensure he received proper nutrition.

Dinesh Lad played a pivotal role in Rohit’s early career by recognizing his raw talent, securing him a school scholarship, and promoting him to the opening batsman position.

Rohit Sharma Does Not Need to Prove Anything, Says His Childhood Coach in Big Remark

Dinesh Lad, the early coach of former India captain Rohit Sharma, feels the batter should ignore criticism over his fitness and form and focus on enjoying his game to bounce back strongly in his preferred World Cup format next year. Rohit has recently struggled in ODIs, scoring just 61 runs in three innings against New Zealand, which has led to scrutiny over his form.

“Being a coach, I don’t think he needs to prove anything to anyone. He badly wants to win the ODI World Cup. I have spoken to him and he is very clear about what he wants in his career. I don’t think he needs to prove his fitness. Despite the age factor, he is still fit enough,” Lad told PTI Videos.

“Critics will keep talking. It’s their job. India needs Rohit’s experience if we want to reach the finals. Technically there is no problem. Moreover, in 50 overs cricket, you need to settle a bit.”

“Rohit has a technique that lets him take his time, get set, and then accelerate. Even in the IPL, he showed his full range—he wasn’t just hitting boundaries but also rotating strike with singles and doubles. I don’t really understand the critics’ arguments. In my opinion, he should definitely be part of the team.”

Lad also indirectly responded to former India selector Saba Karim, who had suggested that Rohit would need to put in significant effort and prove his fitness and form to stay in contention for the 2027 ODI World Cup plans.

“Why are the next six months crucial only for only Rohit? It’s crucial for all players. Everyone needs to play well to retain their place in the team. I have a 100 per cent guarantee that Rohit will definitely play the 50 overs World Cup in 2027.”

“He will do well during these six months and the later months as well. If you give him an opportunity he will do well.” Lad added, “I don’t think Rohit needs to prove anything to anyone. He has retired from Tests and T20Is, not ODI. And in whatever ODI matches he had played last, he did well. I don’t think there is any pressure on him.”
