[WATCH]- Sachin Tendulkar’s Heartfelt Moment With Ailing Friend Vinod Kambli Goes Viral

A video capturing a heartfelt exchange between cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and his childhood friend, former cricketer Vinod Kambli, has gone viral on social media. The two reunited on December 3 in Mumbai during the unveiling of a memorial for their late coach, Ramakant Achrekar.

Kambli, 52, made headlines earlier in August when a video showing him frail and struggling to walk circulated online. However, he later clarified that the footage was outdated. At Tuesday’s event, Tendulkar and Kambli shared a warm moment despite Kambli’s visibly unwell appearance.

In the video, Kambli is seen affectionately placing his hand on Tendulkar’s shoulder and head, showing his deep bond with his childhood friend.

Earlier in the day, Tendulkar posted on his official X account, writing:

“Today is a very special day as we pay tribute to someone who gave so much to cricket and my life.”

In addition to Tendulkar and Kambli, other cricketers coached by Achrekar, including Pravin Amre and Balwinder Singh Sandhu, attended the event, along with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray.

Vinod Kambli’s cricket career took a downturn after a promising beginning

In their school days, Kambli and Tendulkar gained attention as a formidable batting duo, setting a record with a 664-run partnership for Shardashram Vidyamandir against St Xavier’s High School (Fort) in the Harris Shield semi-final at Azad Maidan.

Both Kambli and Tendulkar made strong starts to their international careers, with both going on to represent India. However, while Tendulkar went on to become a cricketing legend, amassing 100 international centuries, Kambli’s career faded.

Despite his undeniable talent, Kambli’s discipline and attitude were often questioned. Although he scored two back-to-back double centuries early in his career, he accumulated only 1,084 runs in 17 Tests at an average of 54.20, with one hundred and three fifties.

Kambli’s place in the ODI team was inconsistent, and he played 104 matches, scoring 2,477 runs at a modest average of 32.59, with two centuries and 14 half-centuries.
