On Friday August 30th, in Nottingham at Trent Bridge, Indian player Sai Sudharsan hit his first County Championship century with Surrey against Nottinghamshire in a Division One match during the 2024 season. The left-handed batsman reached the milestone in an exciting style by hitting a six.
Winning the toss, Surrey decided to bat first and managed to put up a total of 525 runs in their first innings after3486 balls. Skipper and opener Rory Burns was the highest scorer with 161 runs from 266 balls whereas Sudharsan also made other century on day two of battle against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
It was also noted that Sudharsan’s maximum sailing over the leg side fielders was what took him from 98 to 104. He was caught out later on in the same over as Surrey’s innings ended up totaling 525 runs.

Sudharsan’s knock, which was off 178 balls had 10 fours and a six. In Surrey’s first innings, Ryan Patel (77), Will Jacks (59), Jordan Clark (53) and Conor McKerr (32) also made good contributions. Ahmed ended up with figures of 7-140 in 50.4 innings for Nottinghamshire.
Nottinghamshire had a good start in response to Surrey’s huge first inning of 525 reaching 89 runs for the loss of one wicket in 19 overs. They lost Ben Slater for just one run, bowled by Clark. However, Haseeb Hameed (42*) and Freddie McCann (45*) were able to power the innings for Nottinghamshire.
Sai Sudharsan played for Lyca Kovai Kings in the TNPL
Sudharsan was a member of the Lyca Kovai Kings squad which participated in 2024 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). He has made seven innings altogether and achieved to score 238 runs with an average of 39.66 and a striking rate of 150.63.
In Qualifier 1 against IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, he made an explosive 123 off 56 at Dindigul. There were also nine fours among many seven sixes that contributed to his team reaching finals.
Meanwhile, Lyca Kovai Kings were beaten by Dindigul Dragons led by Ravichandran Ashwin in the title match. Sudharsan did not manage more than 14 runs before being dismissed during this final played at MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai.
The young and talented Indian batsman has only 22 years old has experience in three ODIs for India where he scored 127 runs with an average of 63.50 and two half-centuries while he debuted his T20I against Zimbabwe at Harare July this year without batting the match.
