India’s pace bowler Prasidh Krishna removed Sam Konstas for 22 runs on Day 3 (January 5) of the fifth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Australia is chasing 162 runs to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) for the first time since 2014-15.
Earlier in the morning, the Australian bowlers made quick work of the Indian batting, conceding only 16 runs and taking four wickets rapidly to seize momentum. The hosts then made a strong start in their chase, scoring 34 runs in the first three overs with aggressive intent.
The momentum was halted on the penultimate delivery of the fourth over. Konstas, who had scored a few runs, attempted to attack Prasidh Krishna once more. However, the ball edged off his bat and went straight up, where Washington Sundar took a catch at mid-on.

India now faces the challenging task of defending 162 runs in the fifth BGT 2024-25 Test
Earlier today, visitors India were bowled out for 157 in 39.5 overs. Resuming from their overnight score of 141/6, they added only 16 more runs, succumbing to relentless Australian bowling and losing their final four wickets in quick succession.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (22 off 35) and Rishabh Pant (61 off 33) were the primary contributors with the bat for the visitors, playing crucial knocks in challenging conditions. The hosts had a solid start, racing to 34 runs in the first three overs.
However, since then, Prasidh Krishna has struck thrice, dismissing Konstas, Marnus Labuschagne (6 off 20), and Steve Smith (4 off 9), reducing Australia to 58/3 after 10 overs. Australia’s chase now faces a tough challenge.
