[WATCH] Sanju Samson Shows His Form With Massive Six At CSK Fan Event

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson hit a towering six off legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan during a pre-IPL 2026 event. The shot came in an exhibition match at CSK’s Roar event, which saw several former franchise stars in attendance, including Muralitharan, Dwayne Bravo, and others.

Samson went head-to-head with Muralitharan while MS Dhoni kept wickets. The CSK opener started cautiously before unleashing a powerful hit that cleared the boundary. Dhoni also missed a stumping opportunity during the over, giving Samson a valuable reprieve.

“He Can’t Do It All Alone”– Mohammad Kaif on Sanju Samson’s Role at CSK for IPL 2026

Ex-cricketer Mohammad Kaif recently analyzed the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad ahead of IPL 2026 in a YouTube video. He suggested that the franchise is likely to stick with Ruturaj Gaikwad as captain for the time being, while giving Sanju Samson some time to settle into the team before assigning him additional responsibilities. He added:

“I don’t think CSK will make the mistake of giving Sanju Samson the captaincy right now, because he has just joined. You can’t expect him to do everything at once, bat and win matches, keep wickets, and also captain the side. You don’t want to put that entire burden on him. The plan is to slowly let him grow into the role and eventually step into Dhoni’s shoes. That’s the long-term vision.”

Kaif further continued:

“So there won’t be too many changes there. If responsibility has been given to Gaikwad, they won’t rush things. They will back him, and I feel that giving the captaincy to Sanju right now would be the wrong decision. I’ll explain the reason.”

“The reason is that Sanju still doesn’t fully understand Chennai’s culture. He doesn’t yet know the expectations of Chennai’s fans or the dynamics of the players.”
