[WATCH]- Shah Rukh Khan Embraces KL Rahul Following KKR’s Win Against LSG in IPL 2024

Bollywood icon and KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan shared a warm embrace with LSG captain KL Rahul during the post-match interaction following the KKR-LSG IPL 2024 encounter at the Eden Gardens on April 14.

However, on the cricket field, it was all business as KKR dominated LSG, securing an emphatic eight-wicket victory in the 16th over. After limiting LSG to a below-par total of 161/7 in 20 overs, the home team had little trouble securing their fourth win in five matches.

LSG suffered their second consecutive loss, causing them to drop out of the top four to fifth place with three wins in six matches. Following the match, Shah Rukh Khan exchanged greetings with the players, as he often does.

Rahul was one of the rare LSG batsmen who adapted well to the conditions at Eden Gardens and the KKR bowling attack, contributing a classy 39 runs from 27 balls. However, his dismissal in the 11th over hindered LSG’s progress, as they faltered to 111/5 with less than six overs remaining. Eventually, it took a rapid 45 runs off 32 balls from Nicholas Pooran to propel them past the 160-run milestone.

“It was a big defeat”- KL Rahul

LSG captain KL Rahul acknowledged that his team was outperformed by KKR in every aspect during their heavy eight-wicket loss at the Eden Gardens.

Known for their strong defending skills, this marked the second consecutive match where LSG allowed their opponents to chase down the target successfully, following a similar outcome against DC in the previous game.

During the post-match presentation, a visibly disappointed Rahul expressed:

“One of those days, it was a proper hammering. Games like these are tough to digest and we have seen in IPL and every team goes through that. We will try and work out what went wrong and come back better.”

“Not panicking (about back-to-back losses), need to figure out where we went wrong and the last couple of games we haven’t been able to get past 160 and that’s something we want to see and be better at it.”

After their defeat in the season opener against RR, LSG bounced back with three straight wins. However, two consecutive losses have put them in a mid-table position as the tournament approaches its halfway mark.

The team led by KL Rahul will face defending champions CSK in their next match on Friday, April 19.
