Legendary Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne has died of a suspected heart attack at the age of 52 while on a holiday in Thailand. Warne’s sudden passing away has left the entire cricketing fraternity in a state of shock.
Warne had an illustrious international career that spanned almost a decade and a half. He has been a nightmare to many batters and one of the torchbearers of the sport.
Meanwhile, Shane Warne’s Test debut came against India when the Asian Giants toured Down Under in 1992. Playing in Sydney, the 22-year-old Warne, would go on to pick just one wicket in the match – that of Ravi Shastri who scored a double century. However, the first-ever over Warne bowled in his international career was to Sanjay Manjrekar.

Shane Warne would score 20 with the bat in the first innings and was unbeaten on 1 in the second as the hosts just about managed to avoid defeat.
The celebrated leg-spinner soon made his mark in the international circuit. Warne, who had 708 wickets to his name, finished the second-highest wicket-taker in the history of Test cricket, behind Muttiah Muralitharan (800).
Shane Warne played 194 ODIs for Australia and took 293 wickets in the format. The leg-spinner took a total of 1001 wickets and was the first-ever bowler to scale the peak of 1,000 international wickets.
As a batter, he scored 3,154 runs in his Test career and 1,018 runs in ODIs. Warne has been part of many of Australia’s special wins and was also a part of the ICC World Cup-winning squad in 1999.
Warne was also instrumental in Rajasthan Royals winning the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League in 2008.
