Earlier this year, Shikhar Dhawan declared an end to his career in cricket. Now, he has come up with a surprise by showing up on the field again. Currently, he is playing for Karnali Yaks against the backdrop of the ongoing Nepal Premier League.
On Wednesday, Dhawan brought to the fore his batting prowess with an unbeaten 72 runs against Kathmandu Gurkhas. Just within 51 deliveries, he accumulated the runs, charming a crowd that gathered at Kirtipur to witness the Indian star in action.
The left-handed delivery was combined with four boundaries and five maximums, signifying his aggressiveness. While one would expect retirement, Dhawan appears to be quite passionate because he is playing as part of the Nepal Premier League. The absence of the veteran batsman from the field is bound to create some excitement among the fans about his action there.

Shikhar Dhawan scored an unbeaten 72 runs, which guided Karnali to a respectable 149/5 against the Kathmandu Gurkhas in the Nepal Premier League. Even though it was Shikhar Dhawan who helped while batting, it failed to make a mark on the batting lineup of Karnali.
The total was not much, and Kathmandu made the chase comfortably winning with three balls to spare. A late cameo from Kathmandu’s skipper, Karan KC, smashing an unbelievable 28 off 10 balls tilted the game in their favor.
This was the second outing of the league for Dhawan, following a poor initial one against the Janakpur Bolts earlier this week. Dhawan fell for 14 in his very first outing, and in the end Karnali lost this one, too.
Now, having lost their second consecutive match, they occupy the seventh spot in the eight-team table. Karnali, however, will seek a revival from the current losing streak and improve standings in the league.
