Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, who celebrated his 30th birthday on Friday, December 6, shared a video from the celebration on social media, where he amusingly forgot to blow out the candles. The video shows him cutting the cake alongside his parents, Santosh and Rohini.

In a lighthearted moment, Iyer began sharing the cake with his mother before realizing he had forgotten to blow out the candles. On Saturday, December 7, he posted a video and a picture of himself with the cake on X, captioning it:

“Entering a new chapter with my favourite people around me. Thank you everyone for your wishes.”

The Mumbai cricketer recently became the second-most expensive player in IPL history. During the IPL 2025 mega auction, Shreyas Iyer was acquired by Punjab Kings for INR 26.75 crore, making him the second-highest purchase ever, just behind Rishabh Pant, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 27 crore in the same auction.

The 30-year-old has played 116 IPL matches, amassing 3,127 runs with 21 half-centuries. He also led Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL title in 2024, marking his first triumph as captain.

Shreyas Iyer Guides Mumbai To Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 Quarterfinals

Mumbai, led by Shreyas Iyer, secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024. Finishing second in Group E with five wins from six matches, they will face Vidarbha on Wednesday, December 11.

In their final league game against Andhra, Mumbai made history by pulling off the highest successful run chase in SMAT history. Ajinkya Rahane’s brilliant 95 off 54 balls helped them chase down 230 with three balls to spare. Iyer has also been in fine form, amassing 278 runs in five innings, including a fifty and a century.
