There is some good news for Indian Cricket fans as star batter Shreyas Iyer returns to training at National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He suffered a stress fracture on his back during the fourth Test match played against Australia in Ahmedabad this year. The Indian batting struggled without the service of Shreyas Iyer.
He underwent successful back surgery in April this year. With the likes of Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and KL Rahul missing, Shreyas Iyer’s batting in the nets augurs well for the Indian team. He would miss the 2023 Asia Cup to be held from August 31 till 17 September but could make a comeback for the prestigious World Cup starting from 5 October.
Shreyas Iyer missed the entire Indian Premier League 2023. He was the captain of the KKR side last year but could not feature in the IPL as Nitish Rana took over the mantle. The star Indian batter missed the ICC World Test Championship 2023 finals due to the same injury.

Iyer will miss the West Indies series starting on 12 July onwards. The Indian team would be hoping that Shreyas Iyer could make a comeback to help the Indian team boost in the middle order. KL Rahul suffered major injury during the IPL 2023 against Royal Challengers Bangalore while fielding.
Shreyas Iyer decent record in ODIs
Shreyas Iyer has a decent record in the One-day international format for Team India. He has played a total of 32 ODI matches so far with 1631 runs including 2 centuries and 14 half-centuries with a career-best score of 113 not out.
Iyer can play big shots against the spinners and put enough pressure on the bowlers. He played his last ODI match against Sri Lanka at Thiruvananthapuram on January 15, 2023. After that, Shreyas Iyer did not feature in ODI Series against New Zealand due to the same injury.
He did not bat during the first innings against Australia in the fourth innings due to a recurrence of a back injury. Shreyas Iyer would be hopeful to gain fitness before the 2023 World Cup that will be played on Indian soil.
