[WATCH] Sourav Ganguly Turns Cop In Netflix’s New Promo With A Funny Greg Chappell Throwback

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly made a surprise appearance as a cop in a promotional video for Netflix’s web series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter. In the video, Ganguly is seen wearing a police uniform and performing various scenes under the director’s instructions. When asked to showcase aggression, he recalls his past with former India coach Greg Chappell and immediately gets into character, taking a subtle dig at their well-known history.

Ganguly and Chappell had a tense relationship during the Australian’s tenure as India’s head coach in the mid-2000s, a period that Ganguly has often spoken about. The promo cleverly plays on this infamous rivalry, making it an entertaining watch for cricket and cinema fans alike. The series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter is set to premiere on Netflix on March 20.

Faf du Plessis Named Delhi Capitals’ Vice-Captain

In other cricket news, veteran South African batter Faf du Plessis has been appointed as the vice-captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC) for the upcoming 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The announcement was made by the franchise via its social media accounts.

Expressing his excitement, du Plessis confirmed the news, stating that he was eager to contribute to the team’s success. The experienced cricketer was acquired by DC for ₹2 crore in last year’s mega auction in Jeddah after being released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). With this appointment, he is expected to play a crucial role in DC’s leadership, assisting captain Axar Patel both on and off the field.

Du Plessis’ Experience and DC’s Leadership Setup

Du Plessis brings a wealth of leadership experience, having captained South Africa in international cricket and leading RCB from 2022 to 2024. During his tenure as RCB skipper, he led the team in 42 matches, winning 21 and losing 21, with a balanced win-loss ratio of 1.000. Despite leading RCB to the playoffs twice, the team failed to progress beyond the Eliminator stage.

In the past five IPL seasons, he has been a consistent performer, scoring 2,718 runs in 74 innings. With DC’s revamped coaching staff, including Hemang Badani (head coach), Venugopal Rao (director of cricket), and Kevin Pietersen (mentor), du Plessis and Axar Patel will look to guide the franchise to its first-ever IPL title. DC will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on March 24 at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
