Australian batter Steve Smith pulled off an outstanding fielding effort against Team India on the final day of the World Test Championship final at The Kennington Oval in London. He took a screamer to dismiss Virat Kohli in the fourth innings of the summit clash. The dismissal hampered India’s hopes of saving the test match.
Virat Kohli was unbeaten on 44 runs at the end of the fourth day’s play. Team India needed 280 runs on the final day to win the test. The veteran batter along with Ajinkya Rahane started well, however, a poor shot from Kohli ended their partnership. In the forty-seventh over of the innings, Scott Boland bowled a full and wide delivery. Kohli went for the drive with hard hands. However, he got a thick edge.
The ball flew towards the right of Steve Smith, who was at the second slip. Smith dived towards his right and grabbed the ball with both hands to take a brilliant catch. Virat Kohli had to walk back to the hut for 49 runs off 78 deliveries, with seven boundaries. His dismissal pushed India into the corner in the match.
