After beating India in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, Pakistan will once again take on Rohit Sharma-led Team India which will be the opening match for both teams in this year’s edition in Australia as well.

Under Babar Azam, the team has become a strong side in the last few years and also reached the final of the Asia Cup 2022 – where they lost to Sri Lanka recently. However, Pakistan players and coaching staff met legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar.

Gavaskar, who remains to be one of the most respected players in world cricket, also interacted with Pakistan captain Azam and also Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Yousuf – who are a part of the coaching staff as well. However, Yousuf still owns the record for the most Test runs in a calendar year and the batting maestro asked him about the same as well.

“Abhi bhi aapka record hai na 1800 runs (1788* ka Test cricket mein. You still have the record for the most Test runs in a calendar year,” Sunil Gavaskar asked as Yousuf nodded.

However, Yousuf had a stunning run in the five-day format in the year 2006 – where he created history by surpassing Vivian Richards’ longstanding record of 1710 runs in a calendar year which he scored in 1976. Yousuf is currently the batting coach of the Pakistan team.

However, recently, former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram expressed his disappointment over Pakistan’s performance.

‘Ben Duckett doesn’t let the spinners settle. He hits everywhere. If I play against Pakistan, I would know which batsman would target which area. They aren’t as versatile. They don’t even try. I’m not asking them to be a 360-degree player, at least try 180. Do you practice such shots? And if you do, why aren’t they implying?),’ the veteran left-arm seamer shared.
