After winning the Champions Trophy, Team India received a grand welcome at their hotel. The hotel staff showered them with flowers, billowing dhol, and lighting fireworks as a way of appreciating the Men in Blue. It played all of their five matches in Dubai, where they were able to forge a bond with the staff of the hotel. It was a testament to the sweat and toil of the team.
Team India has won the Champions Trophy for the third time on Sunday, knocking off a total of 252 runs in 50 overs. The innings started well with Rohit Sharma scoring 76 runs, but the frequent fall of wickets at the end hampered the chase by India. But a 48-run knock by Shreyas Iyer and a not-out 34 by KL Rahul propelled Team India over the line with six balls remaining.

This win for India was somewhat vindication after having lost their home series to Australia in the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. Team India has gone on to win the 2024 T20 World Cup, and now the Champions Trophy. The numbers overall for Team India have been enviable in the past three years in ICC tournaments, in which the country has played 24 matches, winning 23 of them.
Sunday’s victory gives Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli the honor of having played a part in four ICC event victories for Team India. This only shows the kind of consistency and great efforts that go into performing at the highest level.
This is going to be a big feather in Team India’s cap, and the celebrations at the hotel were worth it. India is now going to relish this sweet moment of victory while turning to the next objective and planning for the next adventure.
