Team India is in Perth preparing for the upcoming 2022 T20 World Cup, which gets underway on October 16. They will kick off their campaign against Pakistan on Sunday, October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Amid the preparations for the mega-tournament, Team India took a day off to visit Rottnest Island.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India shared a video from India’s day out on social media. Rottnest Island is a small island wildlife sanctuary off the coast of Perth. It is also considered a marine paradise and home to the world-famous Quokka, an Asian civet cat, with brown hair. Team India’s Mental conditioning coach, Paddy Upton took the team to the Island to switch off from the game.

Skipper Rohit Sharma took pictures and also engaged in fun games. They also celebrated all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s 29th Birthday by cutting a cake on the Island. Sharing his experience with the team, Rohit Sharma said,

“It was a great experience to be on this Rottnest Island. It’s always nice, when you’re on a tour, to have the team together and get some activity done. It was a very productive day for us.”

Team India wins first warm-up match by seven wickets

Team India won their first warm-up game of the tour against Western Australia XI on Monday, October 10 in Perth. Batting first, they put on 158 runs on the board, at the loss of six wickets. Suryakumar Yadav was the leading run-scorer with 52 runs. In response, the Western Australia XI fell short of the target, handing India a 13 runs win.

Arshdeep Singh picked up three wickets, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets each. The second practice match will take place on Thursday, October 13 at the W.A.C.A in Perth.
