Legendary all-rounder Gary Sobers, along with his wife paid a visit to Team India’s training session in Barbados. The Indian players had the privilege to meet and interact with the former cricketer. Team India is practising at the Kensington Oval ahead of the multi-format series against West Indies.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India shared a video on social media to give the fans a glimpse of the players meeting with Gary Sobers. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, along with the likes of Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Rahul Dravid, Shubman Gill, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Shardul Thakur were spotted meeting the icon and having a chat with him.
Indian head coach, Rahul Dravid introduced the Indian players to the legendary cricketer. Introducing Shubman Gill, he said, “Shubman Gill, one of our most young exciting batsmen.” Sharing the video on Instagram, the BCCI wrote,
“In Barbados & in the company of greatness! 🫡 🫡#TeamIndia meet one of the greatest of the game – Sir Garfield Sobers 🙌 🙌#WIvIND”

Truly blessed: Ravichandran Ashwin shares picture with Gary Sobers
Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin shared a picture with “great man” and legendary cricketer Gary Sobers. He expresses that Barbados brings back memories of the Indian tours that he followed during the 90s and 2000s. He also added that it was an honour to meet Gary Sobers at The Kensington Oval in Barbados.
Sharing the picture on Instagram, Ravichandran Ashwin wrote,
“With the great man. “Sir Gary Sobers”. These venues in the Carribean bring back memories of all those Indian tours I tuned into in the 90s and early 2000s. I met Sir Viv at Antigua last time and this time I had the honour of meeting Sir Gary at his own backyard “The Kensington Oval”. Truly blessed 🤩🤩🙏 “
