[WATCH] Team India Reveals The Fielder Of The Match After Their Win Over Sri Lanka In The 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup

Radha Yadav of Team India was named the Fielder of the Match against Sri Lanka on Wednesday, October 9. Following a disappointing loss to New Zealand in their opening match of the 2024 T20 Women’s World Cup, India bounced back impressively with consecutive victories over Pakistan and Sri Lanka, keeping their semi-final hopes alive in Group A.

Harmanpreet Kaur and her team achieved a commanding 82-run win over Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Stadium, enhancing their net run rate and earning crucial points. The match featured outstanding batting from the top order and strong bowling, with exceptional fielding also contributing significantly to the win.

After struggling with fielding in earlier matches, where they dropped simple catches against New Zealand and Pakistan, the team showed marked improvement against Sri Lanka.

Head coach Amol Muzumdar and fielding coach Munish Bali praised the team’s fielding efforts, highlighting Richa Ghosh, Renuka Singh, and Shafali Verma. The Fielder of the Match medal, however, went to substitute fielder Radha Yadav, who replaced captain Harmanpreet Kaur.

Radha made one of the tournament’s best catches, dismissing Vishmi Gunaratne in the first over of Sri Lanka’s chase of 173. After the match, her name and photo were displayed on the big screen at the Dubai International Stadium, along with a replay of her impressive diving catch.

The India men’s team used a similar winner announcement method during the 2023 ODI World Cup, where a left-handed all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, was named Fielder of the Match for his performance against Bangladesh at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Radha Yadav has established herself as one of Team India’s sharpest fielders. She consistently demonstrates her exceptional skills on the field and has been one of the team’s most reliable fielders, setting a high standard.

Radha Yadav made a similar diving catch while fielding in the deep during the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL), dismissing Deepti Sharma in a match between the Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz.
