[WATCH] “The Comeback Will Be Worth Watching” – Mohammad Shami Resumes Bowling After A Prolonged Period Of Injury Absence

Team India fast bowler Mohammad Shami has recently resumed bowling as part of his ongoing recovery process. His last appearance on the field was during the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup on November 19, where India faced a heartbreaking defeat against Australia.

Shami delivered one of the most remarkable bowling performances in the history of the ODI World Cup, claiming 24 wickets in just seven matches at an outstanding average of 10.70. However, he has been sidelined since November last year due to an ankle injury, which forced him out of both IPL 2024 and the T20 World Cup.

Shami underwent surgery in February and has been undergoing rehabilitation ever since. He turned to his official Instagram account and posted a video to share positive updates with fans, showing himself bowling on a turf. The caption of the post read:

“Away from the Ground, but Never Out of the Game, the comeback will be worth watching #shami #mdshami #mdshami11 #comeback.”“Away from the Ground, but Never Out of the Game, the comeback will be worth watching #shami #mdshami #mdshami11 #comeback.”

“It’s enough even if he gives me two years” – Aakash Chopra on whether GT should keep Mohammad Shami

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra recently evaluated Gujarat Titans’ retention choices before the upcoming mega auction. He suggested that they should retain Shami, as he could continue to spearhead their bowling lineup for a couple more years.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra stated: “I will think whether I can go towards Mohammad Shami. He missed this year because of injury but the only thing that goes against him is that he is not getting younger. It’s a three-year retention, so will you want to retain him? He wasn’t very expensive and it’s enough even if he gives me two years. So Mohammad Shami will be my choice.”

Aakash also selected Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan as the franchise’s top two retention choices. He further added:

“Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will be my first two retentions. I have to keep them and I feel this team will also want to keep them because Sai Sudharsan is consistent and this team is seeing their future around Shubman Gill, and that is why he was the captain as well this year.”
