Recently, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) honored Mohammed Shami for his exploits in the 2023 World Cup. While at the event, the veteran said that he has been putting in a lot of effort in order to get back on the field.

He stressed that he didn’t want to hurry his comeback. Shami was quoted by ESPNcricinfo saying:

“I am working hard to make a comeback soon because I know I have been out of action for quite some time. However, I want to ensure there is no discomfort when I return. I’ve to work on my fitness, so that there is no discomfort. “

“The stronger I return, the better it is for me. I don’t want to rush and risk getting injured again, be it against Bangladesh, New Zealand or the Australia series.” he added.

Shami is expected to make his competitive return during the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024 season. PTI reports that he might play in Bengal’s opening match against Uttar Pradesh on October 11.
