Additionally, owing to the noticeable delay between real-time action and the TV broadcast, members of the Mumbai team, including David, Kieron Pollard, and Mark Boucher, persuaded SKY to request a review a few seconds later.

Despite PBKS captain Sam Curran noticing the incident and informing the on-field umpire, the decision was referred to the third umpire. The replay revealed that the ball had crossed the tramline, leading to the decision being overturned and the wide being called by the third umpire.

Suryakumar Yadav leads Mumbai Indians to their third win in IPL 2024

Under Sam Curran’s leadership, the team won the toss and opted to field first against Mumbai Indians at Mullanpur. After an early dismissal of Ishan Kishan for 8 runs, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav formed a partnership of 81 runs, steering MI to a commanding position.

Suryakumar then showcased his trademark shots towards the backward square leg, scoring 78 runs off 53 balls with seven fours and three sixes. Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 34 off 18 deliveries, helping MI reach a total of 192 runs.

Harshal Patel stood out among the home team’s bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/31. PBKS got off to a poor start, finding themselves at 77/6 by the 10th over.

However, Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma showcased aggressive batting to keep their team in contention. Sharma, especially, caught the attention of cricket enthusiasts with his remarkable ability to hit sixes, smashing seven in the match.

However, after Sharma was dismissed for 61 runs off 28 balls in the 18th over, PBKS struggled to maintain momentum. Consequently, Mumbai Indians secured their third win of the 2024 season, winning by a margin of nine runs.
