[WATCH]- Travis Head’s Unique Celebration Marks Pant’s Dismissal On Day 5 Of The BGT Test

Australia’s Travis Head celebrated animatedly after dismissing India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant on Day 5 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25’s fourth Test at the MCG. After India fell to 33/3 in pursuit of 340, Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal formed a vital partnership, steering the game toward a draw.

However, Australia made a breakthrough when Travis Head dismissed Pant shortly after the tea break. The delivery was slightly short, and Pant attempted a pull shot but failed to get under the ball, leading to a poor shot placement. The ball went wide of the long-on fielder, and Mitchell Marsh covered some ground to take a well-judged catch.

Head celebrated the wicket with animated gestures directed at the dressing room. Rishabh Pant, unable to capitalize on his start, departed after scoring 30 off 104 balls. You can watch the video here:

Rishabh Pant had a lackluster performance in the first innings too, losing his wicket while attempting a risky scoop shot, a decision that ultimately backfired and cost him his place at the crease.

Australia moves closer to victory with some quick wickets

Rishabh Pant’s wicket marked a turning point, swinging the momentum firmly in Australia’s favor. Pat Cummins and his team capitalized on the breakthrough by taking two more crucial wickets, tightening their grip on the match.

Ravindra Jadeja fell after edging a delivery from Scott Boland to the keeper, while Nitish Reddy, who had scored a century in the first innings, was caught in the slips by Steve Smith off Nathan Lyon. With the score at 132/6, India finds itself on the brink of a heavy defeat at the MCG.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (76*) and Washington Sundar (2*) need to survive 28 more overs to save the Test and keep the series level at 1-1.
