Tushar Deshpande grabbed the attention with an incredible athletic display during Sunday, May 12, Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024’s Match 61 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the famed MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Suddenly, he was able to send the tough Jos Buttler back to the pavilion with a brilliant sliding catch.
Sanju Samson, the captain of RR, chose to bat first after winning the toss. They only made one alteration to their starting lineup, substituting South African all-rounder Donovan Ferreira for teenage hitter Dhruv Jurel.
Conversely, CSK made a big alteration to their lineup by benching Mitchell Santner, an accomplished all-rounder from New Zealand. Maheesh Theekshana, a spinner from Sri Lanka, was brought in to bolster their spin department, and this move indicates their concentration on that goal.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler, who opened the innings, gave the game a strong start and put together a promising 43-run partnership. Their tenacity was, however, short-lived as Simarjeet Singh grabbed the vital breakthrough, dismissing Jaiswal for 24 runs, giving CSK the much-needed advantage.
Deshpande demonstrated his skill with an outstanding performance just six runs later, sending Jos Buttler back to the pavilion. Batting on 21 runs off 25 balls, the English great tried a different kind of stroke to try to quicken the pace of scoring. Sadly, the risk proved to be fruitless as he lost his wicket, which changed the course of the match.
Simarjeet hit the ball outside the off stump on the first delivery of the ninth over. Feeling the heat from the increasing scoring pace, Jos Buttler tried a risky lap shot. However, he discovered that he was unable to align himself in the best possible way and could not stretch as far as he had anticipated.
The ball deviated toward the deep backward square leg region as a result. Exhibiting remarkable dexterity and foresight, Tushar Deshpande turned to his right and rounded the corner, seizing the opportunity with calm and poise.
