[WATCH] Unseen Clip Reveals A Disappointed Virat Kohli Removing Bails After India’s Painful Loss To Australia In The 2023 World Cup

A video circulating on social media captures Virat Kohli‘s reaction after India’s loss in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia. The defeat was heartbreaking for Indian cricket and its fans, despite the Men in Blue performing exceptionally well throughout the tournament.

Kohli had an outstanding campaign with the bat, scoring 765 runs at an average of 95.62, featuring three centuries and six half-centuries. He made history by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most runs (673) in a single ODI World Cup edition.

Despite his outstanding Player of the Tournament performance, Virat Kohli’s efforts were futile as India couldn’t secure victory in the final. Setting a target of 241 after batting first, India saw Australia, led by Travis Head’s aggressive batting, successfully chase it down with six wickets and seven overs to spare.

As Australia secured the winning runs, the Indian players appeared disheartened. Kohli, expressing his disappointment, was observed taking off his cap and dislodging the bails. A fan recently posted a video on Instagram, offering a glimpse of the player’s reaction at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after the final.

“Why is he not the captain of the Test team?” – Subramaniam Badrinath views on Virat Kohli

Former Indian cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath has raised concerns about the selectors’ decision not to reinstate Virat Kohli as the Test captain.

Kohli surrendering the captaincy following reported disagreements with the management post the 2021-22 Test series against South Africa. Rohit Sharma assumed leadership across all formats thereafter.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Badrinath voiced his wish to witness Virat Kohli back as the Test captain, stating:

“Kohli has a great record as a test leader. He has scored more than 5000 runs with an average of 52 as a captain. He has 40 wins and 17 losses in 68 tests. And He led us to a tremendous victory in the Australia series. He has the most wins as Test captain after Graeme Smith, Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh.”

Badrinath added: “Why is he (Virat) not the captain of the Test team? I want to raise this valid question. He is a better test batter. There is no comparison between Virat and Rohit Sharma. He is a big player in terms of Test cricket. He has scored runs everywhere.”
