[WATCH]- Varun Chakaravarthy Cleans Up Shamim Hossain For A Duck In Super 4 Clash

Star spinner Varun Chakaravarthy struck in the middle overs to remove Bangladesh’s Shamim Hossain, tightening India’s grip in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 contest in Dubai on Wednesday, September 24. The batter lasted only three balls, departing for a duck as Bangladesh’s collapse deepened.

The breakthrough arrived in the 11th over of the chase. Varun delivered a fuller ball targeting middle stump, with Shamim attempting an inside-out drive after backing away. He failed to connect, and the ball zipped past the edge before crashing into leg stump. Varun’s celebration was measured, but the wicket proved a significant blow to Bangladesh.

India Dominate Bangladesh With Varun’s Twin Wickets

Varun Chakaravarthy made an impact by claiming the wickets of Shamim Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin, keeping India in control against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash. The 34-year-old finished with impressive figures of 2/29 from his four overs.

At the time of writing, Jaker Ali’s side were struggling at 109/5 in 15.1 overs, with Rishad Hossain and Saif Hassan at the crease. Batting first, India posted 168/6 in their 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma led the charge with a blistering 75 off 37 balls, striking five sixes and six boundaries at a strike rate of 202.70.

Hardik Pandya and vice-captain Shubman Gill contributed 38 (29) and 29 (19) respectively. Interestingly, wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson did not bat after being moved down to No. 8. For Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain picked up two wickets. A win would ensure defending champions India secure a place in the final.

Suryakumar Yadav’s side will next face Sri Lanka in their final Super 4 match at the same venue on Friday, September 26.
