In the One Day Cup, Lancashire defeated Worcestershire with a thrilling victory thanks to Venkatesh Iyer’s outstanding bowling performance. Even though Iyer had a difficult season overall both with the bat and the ball, he performed admirably when it counted.

Iyer came up to provide a game-changing spell in the 49th over, with Worcestershire needing just 15 runs from 12 balls. Iyer turned the tide with two key deliveries after Tom Hinley’s explosive previous over had put Worcestershire on the verge of victory.

He demonstrated his ability to perform well under pressure by making a timely intervention that earned a thrilling win for Lancashire. Iyer’s brilliant ball handling showed off his value as an all-around player and assisted his team in rescuing victory from the jaws of defeat. Iyer has had a difficult season thus far, so this victory represents a major turn around for him.

India all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer played a crucial role in Lancashire’s One Day Cup victory against Worcestershire. He was introduced into the attack in the 49th over, after Worcestershire had already secured a 15-run lead. Iyer’s over began inauspiciously, with four leg byes and a four conceded off the first two balls. The situation worsened with two wides and a couple of singles, leaving Worcestershire needing just four runs from eight balls.

In the 49th over, Iyer pulled off a stunning comeback in a dramatic turn of events. Harry Singh was caught at deep mid-wicket after Iyer’s short ball was mistimed by Hinley with Worcestershire needing four runs off eight balls with a set batsman at the crease.

As Iyer bowled the last delivery of the over, trapping Harry Darley leg before wicket, the pressure increased. Not only did this amazing over alter the tide of the match in Lancashire’s favour, but it also ensured an exciting victory by three runs. Having been bowled out for 234 runs, Worcestershire was unable to reach the target.
