Kambli shared a message urging people to avoid alcohol. During a media interaction (as reported by TOI), he promised to make a comeback at the Shivaji Park ground. He commented:
“This doctor (Shailesh Thakur) made me fit and I had stated that I would come back only when I am fit. I will show people in Shivaji Park that I Vinod Kambli will not leave cricket. These guys (at the hospital) gave me good cricket practice. I ‘hit’ only fours and sixes. Enjoy the new year. Don’t drink alcohol. Enjoy life.”
Vinod Kambli’s health became a cause for concern after a video of him struggling to walk went viral on social media. Additionally, he appeared frail and had difficulty speaking during the inauguration of the Ramakant Achrekar memorial last month.

“Nahi, woh London chale gaye the. Lekin unko pata chal gaya. Aap log (media) hi bataye koi (No, he had left for London. But he got to know. Someone from the media told him).”
As per TOI, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his son Shrikant Shinde pledged ₹5 lakh in financial assistance for Vinod Kambli.
