Veteran Indian cricketer Virat Kohli took time to bring joy to young fans by signing autographs for children outside the team hotel in Adelaide. The 36-year-old had recently featured in the second (pink-ball) Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Kohli shone in the first Test, scoring an unbeaten 100 in the second innings to help India secure a dominant 295-run victory. However, his performance in the second Test fell short of expectations, with scores of 7 and 11 in the two innings, as India suffered a crushing 10-wicket defeat within three days.
Despite the setback, Kohli made the day for his young supporters by signing autographs while leaving the team hotel, as the crowd enthusiastically cheered, “King Kohli.”

Virat Kohli’s struggles in Test cricket in recent years
Despite being India’s fourth-highest run-scorer in Test cricket, amassing 9,163 runs in 120 matches at an average of 47.72, including 31 fifties and 30 centuries, Virat Kohli’s form has notably declined in recent years.
Kohli’s struggles began in 2021, when he scored only 536 runs in 11 matches at a modest average of 28.21, failing to register a single century. In 2022, his form further declined, with just 265 runs in six games at an average of 26.50.
However, 2023 brought a resurgence, as Kohli regained his touch, amassing 671 runs in eight matches at an impressive average of 55.91, including two centuries. Unfortunately, 2024 has seen another slump in his performance, with only 373 runs in eight matches at an average of 26.64.
Before 2021, Kohli boasted an excellent Test average of 53.42, which has since dropped to 47.72. Fans will be hoping the star batter can rediscover his form in the remaining matches of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
