[WATCH]- Virat Kohli Departs For 7, Caught Behind Again In BGT 2024-25 2nd Test

India‘s star batter Virat Kohli fell for just 7 in the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. Mitchell Starc claimed his wicket late in the opening session of Day 1 of the pink-ball Test.

Kohli replaced KL Rahul, who was dismissed in the 19th over. He scored a boundary off Scott Boland in the following over with an unconvincing stroke but followed it with a confident cover drive for three runs.

Starc, already on a roll after dismissing both openers, struck again on the first ball of the 21st over. Delivering a good-length ball outside off, Starc forced Kohli into indecision. The batter initially moved back to play it but attempted a leave at the last moment, leading to his dismissal.

Virat Kohli was slow to withdraw his bat, resulting in an edge that carried to the slip cordon. Steve Smith, positioned at second slip, took an easy catch, bringing Kohli’s short innings to an end. The star batter glanced at the pitch and shrugged before walking back to the pavilion.

In the series opener in Perth, Virat Kohli was dismissed in the slip cordon, with Josh Hazlewood exploiting extra bounce to force the edge on that occasion.

Team India at 82-4 at Lunch After Kohli and Gill Depart

Scott Boland joined the wicket-taking spree, trapping Shubman Gill LBW to reduce India to four down by the end of the first session in the second Test. As of now, the Men in Blue are 82-4 after 23 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is at the crease alongside skipper Rohit Sharma, who is batting in the middle order in Tests for the first time since 2018.
