[WATCH]- Virat Kohli Praises Travis Head For His Century On Day 2 Of The BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

Team India’s batting star Virat Kohli couldn’t resist congratulating Travis Head for his outstanding century on Day 2 of the third Test against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane. Kohli was also spotted having a friendly conversation with Steve Smith as both teams made their way off the field for tea.

The South Australian achieved his second consecutive century against India, reaching the landmark in the 69th over by playing a shot off Jasprit Bumrah to the leg side. It was his ninth Test century, following a match-defining 140 that played a crucial role in Australia’s series-levelling victory in Adelaide.

Meanwhile, Smith found his form again after scoring just 19 runs in two Tests and three innings, including a golden duck in the first innings in Perth. As Head walked off at tea unbeaten on 103, Smith remained not out on 65, with their partnership standing strong at 159.

The left-handed batter has now accumulated over 300 runs in the series, making him the highest run-scorer by a significant margin. Despite being dismissed for just 11 in the first innings in Perth, the 30-year-old followed up with scores of 89 and 140.

On Day 2, Australia lost their openers within the first hour, as Jasprit Bumrah removed Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney. Marnus Labuschagne was dismissed for 12 by Nitish Kumar Reddy after facing 55 balls, edging one to Virat Kohli at slip. Due to persistent rain, only 13.2 overs were possible on Day 1.

India triumphed in the opening Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth by 295 runs, handing Australia their first defeat at the venue. However, the hosts bounced back to win in Adelaide by 10 wickets.
