Star India batter Virat Kohli began preparations with the Delhi team at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, ahead of his eagerly awaited Ranji Trophy return after a 12-year hiatus. Kohli will face Railways on January 30, marking his first appearance in the prestigious domestic competition since 2012.
Kohli arrived at the stadium on Tuesday morning, participated in a team huddle, and warmed up before playing football with his teammates for around 15 minutes. He was then seen practicing his batting in the nets. You can watch the video here:

The star player, who has experienced a significant dip in form, appeared at ease with his new teammates, most of whom were meeting him for the first time in the dressing room and were clearly excited to have him join them. The practice session was overseen by Delhi’s head coach, Sarandeep Singh.
Virat Kohli Rejects Delhi Captaincy
Virat Kohli has been officially named in Delhi’s squad for their Ranji Trophy match against Railways, starting January 30. The star batter is set to play under the captaincy of Ayush Badoni. Despite reports suggesting that he was offered the captaincy of the struggling Delhi team, Virat chose to decline the role.
Rishabh Pant will miss Delhi’s upcoming match after featuring in their game against Saurashtra. Following India’s disappointing Test tour of Australia, key players like Virat and Rohit Sharma have returned to play for their Ranji teams, in line with a BCCI directive to prioritize domestic cricket when possible.
While Rohit (Mumbai) and Rishabh Pant (Delhi) had limited success with their teams, veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja impressed with a 12-wicket haul for Saurashtra, and Shubman Gill scored a century for Punjab, though they lost the match.
In addition to Pant, Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal (Mumbai) will miss the upcoming Ranji games as they prepare for the ODI series against England, beginning February 6 in Nagpur.
