Star batter Virat Kohli from Team India was seen departing for London after the extensive celebrations in Mumbai on Thursday following their victory in the T20 World Cup 2024. The 35-year-old immediately headed to London to reunite with his family, as observed at the airport.

Kohli performed a crucial performance in Team India’s victory in the T20 World Cup, ending their eleven-year hold to an ICC trophy.

Despite suffering in the early matches, he introduced an essential innings in the final towards South Africa in Barbados, contributing 76 runs off 59 deliveries, which helped India attain a complete score of 176 runs in 20 overs. This performance ultimately led to India’s seven-run victory.

Rohit Sharma and his team members had a hectic 24 hours stay in Barbados extended because of the hurricane. They reached in Delhi on Thursday morning and encountered with Prime Minister Narendra Modi before setting off to Mumbai.

Kohli recounted the tense final moments of the match against South Africa, expressing how they feared losing control once more. The veteran acknowledged Bumrah for rallying India back into contention, as reported by ESPN Cricinfo.

“Like everyone in the stadium [here], we also felt at one point if it is going to slip away again, but what happened in those [last] five overs was truly, truly special.”

“You know what I’d like everyone to do is applaud a guy who brought us back into games again and again and again in this tournament. What he did in those last five overs, bowling two out of the last five overs, it was phenomenal. A huge round of applause for Jasprit Bumrah, please.”

After the tournament, Kohli and Rohit declared their retirement from T20Is. They are the two highest run-scorers in the format, with Kohli accumulating 4188 runs and Rohit achieving 4231 runs.
