Virat Kohli pulled off a brilliant leaping catch to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne on Day 1 (Thursday, December 26) of the fourth Border-Gavaskar series (BGT) 2024-25 Test between India and Australia in Melbourne. The catch ended the 83-run partnership between Labuschagne and Steve Smith.

Labuschagne departed after scoring 72 off 145 balls, including seven boundaries. The dismissal occurred in the 66th over of Australia’s first innings when Washington Sundar bowled a slower, short-length delivery outside off.

Labuschagne attempted to loft it over mid-off but found Kohli, who timed his leap perfectly to complete a clean overhead catch. You can watch the video here:

This was Labuschagne’s second fifty of the five-match series, following his 64 in Adelaide, where Australia defeated India by 10 wickets. Meanwhile, Sundar claimed his first wicket of the match and third of the series, after being left out for the second and third Tests in Australia.

India strike twice as Head falls after Labuschagne

India struck twice in consecutive overs as Bumrah bowled in-form Head in the 67th. At the time of writing, Australia were 241/4 with Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh at the crease. Bumrah has been the standout bowler with two wickets.

Earlier, debutant Sam Konstas impressed with a 60 off 65, including 34 runs off Bumrah in a fiery spell featuring two sixes and four boundaries. Usman Khawaja also regained form with 57 off 121, adding 89 runs for the opening stand with Konstas.

The series is tied 1-1. India won in Perth by 295 runs, Australia bounced back in Adelaide with a 10-wicket win, and the Brisbane Test ended in a rain-hit draw.
