Akash Deep set the stage for the Indian bowlers in the second innings by getting rid of New Zealand captain Tom Latham for just one run. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin then combined effectively, helping to reduce the visitors from 94 for three to 150 for eight.
Will Young was the top performer for the Blackcaps, scoring 51 runs off 100 balls. At the end of Day 2, New Zealand stood at 171/9, holding a lead of 143 runs in their second innings.
