[WATCH]- Washington Sundar Scores A Century For Tamil Nadu With A Boundary Against Delhi In The 2024 Ranji Trophy

Team India and Tamil Nadu spin bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar recorded his second first-class century for his state during the Ranji Trophy match against Delhi on Day 2 (Saturday, October 19) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Coming in to bat at number three, Sundar and Sai Sudharsan played impressive shots, helping Tamil Nadu maintain a strong scoring rate in their second match. Sudharsan reached his double century (213) on Day 2, while Washington Sundar was just a boundary shy of his hundred.

Facing Delhi pacer Navdeep Saini, Sundar edged the fourth ball of the 91st over past the slip cordon for a boundary to bring up his century. He removed his helmet to celebrate and raised his bat to acknowledge his teammates.

This marks Washington Sundar’s second century in first-class cricket, his first being against Tripura in 2017. In that match, he opened the innings with Abhinav Mukund and scored 159 runs off 231 balls.

Tamil Nadu remains dominant against Delhi in their second Ranji Trophy 2024 match

In their second match of the season, Delhi won the toss and opted to bat first on Friday, October 18. Sai Sudharsan played a remarkable innings, scoring 213 runs off 274 balls, while Narayan Jagadeesan contributed 65 runs from 101 deliveries, together forming a solid opening partnership of 168 runs.

Sudharsan not only reached his century but also converted it into a double hundred. Washington Sundar, batting in the middle order, added to the total with 124 runs off 217 balls.

As of now, Tamil Nadu has amassed 436 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 103 overs. They are looking to secure another victory after their impressive win over Saurashtra by an innings and 70 runs in their opening match of the season.
