[Watch] Wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia Shows Presence Of mind in 2nd ODI against Srilanka

Indian women wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia showed a brilliant presence of mind in the second match of the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Yastika made a brilliant run out in the 23rd over of the game when Deepti Sharma came to bowl. Sri Lankan player Anushka Sanjeewani was dismissed  run out in a bizarre manner.

On the third ball of the 23rd over, Anushka Sanjeewani blocked the ball of Deepti on the front foot. Unknowingly, she took a few steps ahead of the crease. Yastika Bhatia collected the ball and noticed that she was not in the crease. She hit a direct throw on stumps with an underarm backhand throw, emulating former Indian captain MS Dhoni to catch the batter short of her crease.

Deepti Sharma appealed for it and the third umpire gave it out. All the Indian teammates applauded the presence of mind of Yastika Bhatia. Even Anushka Sanjeewani couldn’t believe that she was dismissed in such an unlucky way. It was a crucial wicket for the Indian team at that stage.

Anushka Sanjeewani formed a 28 runs partnership for the fifth wicket. At the end Sri Lankan women team was bundled out for a score of 173 runs. Nilakshi De Silva top scored for the hosts by scoring 32 runs. Renuka Singh picked four wickets for the Indian team.

India defeat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in 2nd ODI

The Indian women’s team won the match in a comprehensive manner. They defeated Srilanka by 10 Wickets in the second ODI. They successfully chased down a target of 174 without losing any wicket. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana scored brilliant half centuries. The Indian team has made a lead of 2-0 in the ODI series.

Renuka Singh was awarded Player of the match for her brilliant spell. Renuka Singh in post match presentation said,”I am working on my strengths and working on my variations. I am hitting the hard lengths which is helping me here. We decided to bowl first looking at the overcast weather. We thought the conditions will help us. I was told to stick to my strengths.”
