Pakistan Champions’ all-rounder Shahid Afridi demonstrated his prowess in the World Championship of Legends, showcasing that age is no barrier. During the match against Australia Champions at Edgbaston, Afridi delivered a bowling spell of 2/34 and contributed an unbeaten 11 runs from 5 balls, guiding the Pakistan Champions to a five-wicket victory.
Younis Khan, captain of Pakistan Champions, won the toss and chose to bowl first at Edgbaston. Australia Champions made a strong start with opener Aaron Finch scoring a rapid 68 off 40 balls.
Initially, it seemed Australia Champions might surpass 200 runs comfortably, but Shahid Afridi’s entry into the attack changed the game. Afridi quickly dismissed Ben Cutting and then clean bowled Tim Paine on his very first delivery, stunning the Australian team.

Paine was caught off guard by Afridi’s yorker as he advanced down the track, missing the ball completely and losing his stumps. Afridi celebrated in his traditional fashion after taking two wickets in consecutive deliveries.

Pakistan Champions were struggling at 79/4 in the ninth over of their chase for a target of 191 runs. Australia Champions appeared to be in control, but a superb fifty from captain Younis Khan and an undefeated 46 from Misbah-ul-Haq revived Pakistan Champions’ chances in the match.
Xavier Doherty dismissed Khan leg before wicket with Pakistan Champions requiring 22 runs from 12 balls. Shahid Afridi then came to bat and contributed a useful cameo of 11 runs off five deliveries, including two boundaries.
With Pakistan needing three runs off the final three balls, Afridi hit a boundary off Brett Lee to secure victory for his team. Afridi was awarded the Moment of the Match during the post-match presentation for his crucial double contribution.
