“We Could Make A Law Here”- Australian PM Jokes About Jasprit Bumrah Ahead Of 5th BGT Test

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese humorously mentioned he was considering introducing a law that would require ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah to bowl left-handed or from one step ahead, just before the fifth and final Test in Sydney, starting January 3.

Bumrah has been the standout player of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, despite India trailing 1-2 after four matches. The star pacer leads all bowlers with 30 wickets at an impressive average of 12.83, including three five-wicket hauls.

Meanwhile, the Australian Prime Minister hosted the Indian and Australian players on New Year’s Day, two days ahead of the Sydney Test. Sportstar reported his remarks:

“We could pass a law here that says he has to bowl left-handed or off one step. Every time he has come onto bowl has been very exciting. The Australian and Indian teams have already given us an incredible summer of cricket.”

Following the fourth Test in Melbourne, Bumrah achieved the highest rating points by an Indian in the ICC Test bowling rankings. He also led India to their only win in the series, a 295-run victory at Perth, and has been outstanding with the ball despite India losing two of the next three matches.

“Difficult destination to visit” – Gautam Gambhir during the PM Meet

Gautam Gambhir, during the Australian PM’s visit, called Australia a beautiful yet tough destination for touring. India has won their last four Test series against Australia, including the 2018/19 and 2020/21 series down under.

“Australia is a beautiful country to travel, but a tough place to tour. Crowds have been absolutely amazing. We’ve got another Test match to go. Hopefully, we can entertain the crowd,” said Gambhir.

Gambhir’s coaching tenure started on a rocky note with a 0-2 ODI loss to Sri Lanka, followed by a 0-3 home Test defeat to New Zealand ahead of the Australian tour.
