“We Miss Him Definitely”: Shardul Thakur On MS Dhoni Ahead Of Playing In Ranchi

MS Dhoni’s hometown of Ranchi will host the ODI between India and South Africa, and all-rounder Shardul Thakur discussed the former captain and why he is missed in the dressing room.

As reported by NDTV, Thakur, who has played limited-overs cricket with Dhoni for the Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants, said:

“Everybody misses him because his experience matters a lot. He has played more than 300 ODIs, close to 90 Tests and he played a lot of T20Is as well. So this much-experienced player, it is rare that you come across such an experienced player. We miss him definitely.”

Following his retirement announcement on August 15, Dhoni said goodbye to the world of international cricket in 2020. India won the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 50-over World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy when Dhoni served as captain. India advanced to the 2014 T20 World Cup final under Dhoni’s leadership.

You should criticize SA bowlers as well because we won the T20 series: Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur gave his All-round performance in the match against South Africa in the 1st ODI picking 2 crucial wickets and then scoring 33 runs but still, it was not enough to make India win the 1st ODI as the India team lost by 9 runs.

When asked about the bad balling performance by team India bowlers, Shardul Thakur added,

“The bowlers who are coming to play here are also being hit for runs. If you look at the T20I series against South Africa and you criticize our bowlers, then you should criticize their bowlers as well because we won the series. Their bowlers were scored off as well. When you ask about someone’s consistency, one should see the pitch conditions.”

“Sometimes we play ODIs, where more than 350 runs are scored. In that case, every bowler will be taken for runs. India has never played a one-sided game, and the fight is always there. There is always fighting and the matches have been really good. We have lost 1-2 odd matches but we have won the maximum number of games, so consistency is there within the team,” he added.
